Murmurrings

Friday night I went to my first Covenant Keepers meeting in the DFW area. I don't know why but I was kind of on the nervous side, ok I know why cause I am basically shy...ok those of you that know me stop laughing. I AM shy and rather reserved when I am in situations I am not accustomed to or that are new to me.

I wanted to share with you my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ some of what we did that night. We sang worship music, ok they sang and I am not sure what I was doing . They prayed, I prayed along and we did a bible study. The bible study is something I want to share with you.

We were studying the Book of Exodus, Chapters 12-17. Each one of us was to take a chapter, get a sheet of paper and draw a line down the middle and title one column, "Murmurings" and the other "God's Provision". I hope you do this yourself as well.

We read our chapters, made our lists of murmurings and Provisions... as you read and make notes, you will notice a pattern with the Hebrew people. You will also notice something about our wonderful Lord....

I also noticed a similarity between our stands and the Hebrews, who are by the way, God's chosen ones. (Remember so are you!)

God's people would murmur - complain, he would provide. Above and beyond I might add. Then they would murmur and God would provide, and the cycle would repeat itself. Also notice that it took the Hebrew's 40 years to get to the promise land...it was only about a day away or so in actual distance, but it took them like I said 40 YEARS. Whew!

As I sit here writing this, what comes to mind right now, is a family going on a trip to Disneyland. There we are the parents in the front showing the way and the two kids in the back of the car. Five miles from home the kids complain, I am thirsty... they whine they complain, the parent pull over and they provide some to drink. Another 5 miles down the road, the kids say I am hungry they whine they complain and again the parent stop and then provide them with something to drink. Every few minutes I can hear the kids asking, "are we there yet? Are we there yet?" Since we are human parents of course all of this gets on our last nerve, but then suddenly we are there.... and the kids look out the car windows in awe, in amazement and we as parents we love the look on our children’s faces and we forget the trip up.....

Just like the story of the Hebrew people in their journey to the promise, we see God's miracles in our lives, big and small. At the time we are in awe and wonder, but we soon forget and begin to complain and murmur. Then our loving Father, he provides for us again, little encouragers, reminders, His Word and again we are in awe and we are in praise mode...we are back and forth like this in our stand UNTIL we get it! Praise God cause we all gonna "Get IT!" Remember he tells us he will perfect his work in us! Hallelujah!

22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
24 “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. John 17:22-24

Also in the journey of the Hebrew people there were only two from the original migration of the people made it to the promise land. What made them so special? Their faith in God and the ability to see what God sees in a situation.

6 Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes 7 and said to the entire Israelite assembly, "The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. 8 If the LORD is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. 9 Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will swallow them up. Their protection is gone, but the LORD is with us. Do not be afraid of them." Numbers 14:6-9

So I ask myself, I ask you, are we going to murmur or are we going to praise God for this journey? Are we going to enjoy the ride? (I call shotgun, cause I don’t want to miss a thing!) Will we have the courage to BELIEVE the promises of God? Or will we fear? Fear is NOT of God, perfect love casts out fear, so why should we fear with God on our side? Wasn't the enemy already defeated over 2000 years ago? Jesus, died on the cross for you, for me, for our spouses, it is my prayer we start siding with Jesus and stop siding with the enemy. Remember, Jesus said on the cross, "it is finished". His words go round and round in my head and I can stand KNOWING all His promises are coming to pass.

Hallelujah! Scales are falling away in the name of Jesus! Ears are opening in the name of Jesus! Hearts of stone are NOW hearts of flesh in the name of Jesus! Husbands and wives are falling to their knees in repentance, asking for forgiveness and accepting our Lord Jesus as the Christ, the Lord of their life! Praise God! It's a happening folks, it’s a happening!
